The BIBLE Genealogy (a DavidScroll) is a valuable instrument in the hands of any student of the Word of God.
The aim is to put the people and major events of the BIBLE in perspective. (4004 BC to AD 100)
4104 Years of Bible history in perspective
The invisible [spiritual] things are clearly seen in the creation [physical things] (Rom 1:20). We cannot study the Bible for the spiritual truth only but also need to look at it from a physical angle; we need to keep a balance between the physical a nd the spiritual.
I spent nine years to plot the Bible in the form of a timeline. This includes all the characters of the Bible, their genealogies, spiritual truths, biblical events and worldly incidents from the creation, in 4004 BC, to the time that the last book of the Bible was written (around 100 AD).
This study researched the smallest facts, and I can report that I found no contradictions in the Bible. The facts stated in the Bible are accurate and consistent.
Please allow me to share some of the findings with you:
The set of books that comprises the Bible is extremely accurate, much more than what we can achieve in our technological era.
God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. His heart stayed consistent throughout the ages. When He chose the number 40 to be important in man’s search for Him; did it rain 40 days and 40 nights in Noah’s time, Moses spent 40 years a shepherd, 40 years in Egypt and 40 years in the desert; the kings chosen by God reigned for 40 years, Job’s suffering was for 40 weeks, Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness, and a baby spends 40 weeks in the womb. We can therefore not make the Old Testament to be of lesser importance, because it explains to us the New Testament, neither can we make the New Testament of lesser importance, because it contains the Old Testament.
People often notice the larger prophesies but neglect God’s hand in the smallest truths. Methuselah’s name means “When he dies, it shall come” and the research showed that his death coincided with the start of the flood of Noah. This does not say that Methuselah died in the flood, but that the flood started when he died. Methuselah was the person that lived the longest (969 years) and this shows God’s grace. God have postponed Methuselah’s death as long as possible before He flooded the earth.
Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar, Pythagoras (the mathematician), Hippocrates, Plato, Socrates and Buddha were people that lived in the same time period.
I want to encourage you to study the Bible for both the physical and spiritual truths and also to study the Old and New Testaments as complementary to each other.
